When Do We Need Home Alarm System?

April 10, 2012 | Filed under: maintain and tagged with: alarm system

Home alarm systemDo you really need an alarm system? A warning sign of dogs or a neighborhood watch organization may do some good in dissuading a would-be burglar. But remember, things like those only prevent the “fluffy” thief such as neighborhood kids and random transients. For giving your house significant protection from serious intruder, proper alarm systems are the solution.

However, it’s not the only solution.

So, when do we need an alarm? Actually, it depends on your environment and property type. But generally, a security system for your home is a must. To me, it’s like an antivirus/firewall for computer or gadget. You can always ignore it, never installed it, for instance because you feel already secure by the OS capability (like my friend do believe). Well, I don’t know about you, but I never put my precious in risk.

Usually, home alarm systems make loud noises on suspicious entrance. This will make neighbors aware and the intruder panic. Meanwhile, other alarm systems can monitor doors and windows by zone or by individual attribute, then send a signal of detected problem to certain security panel.

It’s important to review your home security needs before consulting with a home security advisor or alarm company. You know, most of them will naturally push their product to you. There are so many ways to install the alarm system. But choosing one suit you is, I think, the most difficult, especially when you’re not a rich man (yet).

Consider well, do you want to pay an alarm company to monitor your house 24/7, or should the alarm system send a general distress signal to the police whenever the alarm rings? The second option can bring you embarrassment if false alarms happen quite often. It’s also expensive, because the system would be more complicated.

Next question, when do we don’t need an alarm? I’d say when there are many (trusted) people inside. So when you have to go to work, your brothers are home, or vice versa. Like a good soccer team: goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and striker, with determined positions. Along with the increasing property prices, I’m sure there will be more occupants in the family or houses. In this circumstance, you don’t hardly need an alarm system. You just need to make sure the occupants are good people.

Ya I like this post its very useful & informative. Thanks for share it. Burglar alarms are systems designed to detect unauthorized entry into a building or area. They consist of an array of sensors, a control panel and alerting system, and interconnections. Sensors detect intruders by many methods such as monitoring door and window contacts, by passive infrared motion detectors, ultrasound, vibration, electric or magnetic fields, or microwaves. Sensors may be directly wired to a control panel that provides sensor power, or may communicate wirelessly.

A security system for your house is a must. You never know who can end up wandering the streets of your home. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Agree, Martin. But there are always circumstances where we don’t require it.

I’m probably going to end up buynig this alarm package but you really need to do some research on sound decibel ratings. To anyone that knows anything about sound, they will laugh at a 160 db siren rating. I engineer 80,000 watt concert systems that peak at 143-145db. 150db is a jet engine at take off. AT the engine, not a 1000 feet away. When you say almost 300db ..you need to do more research. Every time you double the speakers you gain 3db of output. You don’t add the ratings together.

We always want our family to be safe. It is one of the most important things to us. So having a good home alarm system will lessen or definitely decrease our chances of intruders and thieves from getting into our houses.
